Hazard-Specific Stakeholder Interaction
Hazard-specific groups are a coordinated initiative within ClimXtreme designed to bridge the gap between current scientific research and stakeholder needs.
The communication of scientific findings often falls short of meeting stakeholders' operational needs and only slowly influences decision-making processes. To address this challenge, ClimXtreme organizes stakeholder engagement in a structured manner through these focus topic groups, fostering a continuous two-way exchange between researchers and stakeholders. This approach complements the individual stakeholder interactions maintained by various subprojects.
Three groups, related to one of three specific hazards: heatwaves/droughts, heavy precipitation, and windstorms, create a collaborative environment where specific and selected concerns of stakeholders are addressed. Core questions revolve around how these hazards may evolve under climate change, how this might impact stakeholder systems, and which information effective adaptation and decision-making require. The tasks of the hazard-specific groups include developing strategies for assessing extreme risks and quantifying uncertainties, thereby expanding the knowledge base which supports all ClimXtreme activities.
