The ClimXtreme II final meeting took place 8–10 July 2026 at the German Weather Service in Offenbach. On the first day, participants reviewed the results of the 25 subprojects through poster presentations, paying particular attention to differences and commonalities in findings that arose from the different approaches. The aim was, among other things, to achieve the best possible synergies for the remaining project duration.

The second day of the meeting was devoted to communication with representatives of institutions for whom the results and methodological approaches are relevant. Some members of this group had already become familiar with ClimXtreme through online events, especially workshops and seminar series. The insurance sector, the transport sector, various federal and state authorities, and municipalities were among those represented.

The opportunity for face-to-face discussion was used intensively. In a thematic exchange, participants met in rotating groups to discuss how ClimXtreme research results can be translated into practice. The recently updated ClimXtreme knowledge platform was also discussed. One outcome was the participants’ expressed need to keep such information available on a platform in the long term, beyond the end of the project.

The personal interaction with practitioners during the stakeholder day was regarded as very valuable by all parties. It is intended to continue this approach and to establish collaboration with stakeholders already during the project period in future projects with a similar focus.

The third half-day was devoted to possible perspectives and included presentations by Laurence Rouil, Director of the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (ECMWF-CAMS), and Frank Kaspar, Head of the Climate and Data Analysis Department at EUMETSAT.

Overall, the final meeting was rated very positively by all participants, including members of the ClimXtreme scientific advisory board.
